1. When you start, do you practice indoors vs. outdoors? vs. outdoor practice range?
As a personal opinion of the coach, beginners are recommended to practice indoors.
When you are a beginner, it is better to focus on correcting your swing than watching your ball fly away.
These days, indoor practice ranges are not much different from outdoor practice ranges because almost the same data as actual outdoor shots are displayed on the screen with precise golf machines, and most indoor practice ranges have swing analysis machines, so you can quickly correct your swing by checking your posture.
indoor practice range
Advantages: Swing analysis, weather-unaffected, practicing in winter
relatively low cost of a training ground
outdoor practice range
Advantages: Check the ball quality, easy to check the distance of each club, can practice with a feeling similar to the field.
The best way is to do two at the same time.
It is recommended that you practice while correcting your swing indoors and visit the outdoor practice range from time to time to check the ball quality and distance.
2. What should I do with the golf club?
rental golf club
Golf clubs are usually rented free of charge at practice grounds.
I recommend that you make a full swing with a rental club.
I suggest you buy a golf club later.
The reason is that I even made a full swing to check how strong my swing is.
Because I have to buy a club that fits my swing speed, not a heavy club, just because I’m skinny, I have to get my swing checked by my professional and recommend a club that fits me to buy the right club and buy a club that I can use for a long time.
3. What do you need on your first day of golf practice?
Golf wear or comfortable sportswear is good, and loose clothes interfere with swing and lesson professionals checking their posture, so it is recommended to avoid clothes that are too big clothes.
When you are a beginner, you should prepare sneakers or golf shoes (called spikes).
Unlike regular sneakers, golf shoes have a sagging sign on the bottom of the golf shoes to prevent slipping, so if you have some power, you can use them in practice rather than sneakers.
You’d better wear golf shoes.
Gloves are sold at golf shops or in regular practice ranges.
The salesperson or professional can recommend gloves that fit your hand size and purchase them. (Prices are 10,000 to 30,000 won)
Gloves are consumables, so you need at least three when you go out for an outdoor round.
You can replace wet gloves on a rainy day, so please purchase several.
